AGM: The annual Tallow GAA annual general meeting took place on Friday last. Chairman Terence McSweeney addressed the
group and outlined to the attendees and gave a details description of the year previous and what he hoped for in 2020 . He stressed why we need to challenge the executive and push for us to do things better and to continue to move forward. How we need to try something new and not be afraid to make mistakes, once it is in the interest of progression. We are in a healthy position financially due to the stellar work of the lotto committee and the deise draw and how it's imperative to keep the numbers we have in both.

We need to invest more in youth to safeguard our future and strive to provide coaching to them. His two highlights for the year were the World Games where we hosted the Germany team and the trip to Prague. The World Games were driven by our own Pat Daly in Croke Park and it was wonderful to see a big crowd , mainly families , down in the field on a week night.

The trip to Prague was an outstanding success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who went. Connections were made and bonds were formed . We have a strong history of club trips and this definitely offers something to the non-playing member which should be kept up . A big thank you must go to our Kieran Geary who was the driving force behind the trip and responsible for the bulk of the organising.

On the field in senior hurling we reached the preliminary quarter final against Passage but we underperformed on the day. We defeated Ballyduff in the relegation game thereafter . He thanked Denis Walsh, Jimmy Cronin and Paul Kearney for the work during the year.

The junior hurlers had a good league campaign and lost the last league game against Ring. This defeat put us in a semi final against Fourmilewater.  Deja vu came around again as the men from the Comeraghs for the second year in a row defeated us when we couldn't match their physical strength and hurling. It was a pity at the end when the team had such promise at the start of the year and management of Ter , Stuie , Luke and Seán although disappointed at the end can look at very promising campaign.

Following a year absence from football Tallow fielded a junior football team again. We played six games in the league section winning two, the highlights came in a mesmerizing victory against the Geraldines. We narrowly lost to the same opposition in Lismore in the quarter final . Great credit to the management of Tom Bear, Dinny Tobin and Seán Gleeson.

We wish them the best for the future and hope to continue or relationship in other forms.Mick and Bernie Kearney continue their sponsorship of the lotto and this is greatly appreciated.

Club All Ireland Finals: Over the weekend we had the two Senior finals and the Intermediate and Junior Hurling Finals.
Ballyhale won the senior final again as their economical use of ball bettered a hardened Borrisoleigh. The football final showed all that is wrong with the game. Mass defence , lateral hand passing and ill discipline.  The faster the sin bin is in for a deliberate pull down the better!! A horrible bit of gamesmanship. A foul on the fifty five metre line , the ball was struck out of the Kilkoo players a hand and amazingly the ball is kicked over from a free just on the D. The neutral crowd were shouting for Kilcoo with the
Corofin boys trying to win by all manners necessary or unnecessary.  A row in the tunnel and the momentum turned to Corofin to showing how they should have played, resulting in the first three in a row at club All Ireland level. Tulloroan snatched a one point victory against the desperately unlucky Father O'Neill's. One of the games greats Tommy Walsh's children were denied access onto the field but it doesn't apply to the
Dublin footballers whose children get free reign after an All Ireland. Shane Walsh gave one of the great speech's after.
